The seed of the grape plant, Vitis vinifera, yields a fine textured, linoleic-rich oil. Grape seed extract is classified as a powerful antioxidant, anti-degenerative, restructuring, moisturizing and tonifying. Grape Seed Oil is also one of several plant emollients that mimic the lipid content of the skin. It helps stabilize and maintain the structure of the skin's complex inter-cellular matrix, preventing moisture loss and cell damage and promoting the skin's soft, smooth, healthy appearance.
Grapeseed oil is truly superb in every regard. It has a mild green color with a pleasant odor, silken texture, and great absorption rate. Generally employed as a base oil for many creams, lotions and as a general carrier oil. Grapeseed is especially useful for skin types that do not absorb oils too well, and it does not leave a greasy feeling. Wonderful for those with skin sensitivities because of its natural non-allergenic properties. It absorbs well and imparts both a pleasant odor and taste.
This organic Grapeseed oil is a lovely light green color with a mild aroma, superb taste, and light in texture. It is widely used as a base oil for many creams and lotions, as a general carrier oil, and as an all-purpose massage oil base.
Grapeseed oil is especially useful for skin types that need oil control. It and Hazelnut oil are two mildly astringent oils that are highly recommended as base oils for acne care. Also helpful for acne care are Tamanu and Virgin Coconut oils for their anti-bacterial properties.
Additionally, this Grapeseed oil makes a delicious salad dressing and high flash-point cooking oil. ABOUT THE PLANT
Considered by many in the US as a weed, it was known as the “gold of pleasure”, and is still sold and marketed under this name in some parts of the world. Camelina is a small annual shrub with small pale yellow or greenish yellow flowers. It is referred to as false flax because it is often found growing in flax fields. Traditionally it was used for oil in lamps, and as feed for livestock. Recently, it has been looked at for its viability as a bio fuel alternative to corn and as a nutritional supplement for farm and domesticated animals. Because of its unrefined nature it has a deep color, heavy herbaceous odor and nutty flavor.
ABOUT THE PLANT
Vitis vinifera, or common grape vine, is native to the Mediterranean region, central Europe, and southwestern Asia. There are currently between 5,000 and 10,000 varieties of Vitis vinifera grapes, although only a few are of commercial significance for wine and edible grape production.
ABOUT THE OIL
Grapeseed oil is pressed from the seeds of grapes, and is thus an abundant by-product of winemaking.
